The materials list is in the instructions, PAC EGA will be supplying beige 18 count mono canvas for use in this project. If you'd like to use a different color canvas, please bring it to class.

Learn to Knit a Washcloth

Have you always wanted to learn to knit? Do you need to polish up some rusty skills? Do you have an old knitting project that you don't remember how to finish? We'll help! Bring size 8 knitting needles and a skein of cotton yarn (Sugar 'n' Cream is a good brand that you can get at AC Moore, JoAnn, or Michaels). We'll show you two different ways to make a dishcloth or washcloth.

Assemble kits for membership drive

We'll be putting together mini-kits to give to folks who come chat with us at stitch ins or visitors who have never stitched before. Members will supply the materials, and we'll do an assembly line.

Please bring 14 count Aida cloth, embroidery floss, and size 24 or 26 tapestry needles.

make a square stitch beaded bracelet

Make a bracelet composed of blocks made using the Flat Square Stitch! Even those with little or no beading experience will be able to create a half in wide clasp-style bracelet using approximately four colors of size 11 Delica seed beads. This is a photo of the bracelet by Janet Salerno, the THAP instructor at the March 2015 MAR meeting. Bring your favorite beading thread, and colored pencils if you have them. If you need supplies for this project, please remember to consider our advertisers to fulfill your needs.

Make Fleece Blankets for Outreach

Our main outreach program for 2015 is to make fleece blankets for the homeless. Members are asked to purchase 2 yard lengths of fleece and bring it to this meeting. Blankets will then be donated to a local church that helps the homeless.

Gary Clarke 2 Day Workshop!

We've once again been given the chance to have a teacher from the International Teaching Tour come to teach us! Gary Clarke is from Tasmania, he will be coming to Philadelphia to teach two of his one day Classes:

Penn Dry Goods Market

This event is hosted by the Schwenkfelder Library & Heritage Center, and is a textile-focused antiques show and sale with something for almost everyone, from the collector of fine samplers to the lover of vintage clothing and notions. Additionally, they offer sampler and needlework history lectures in conjunction with the Market. This year, they are hosting presentations on 19th century Berlin wool embroidery; connoisseurship of samplers with Amy Finkel; and Westtown School samplers, with Mary Brooks, to name just a few of the lectures available. Each lecture is $25 and attendees may register for as many, or as few, as they’d like plus free admission to the antique show comes with your lecture registration.
